Calf at Large, Burger King Meltdown, Bank Protestors: Woodbury Police Blotter

Selected calls to the Woodbury Public Safety Department from March 26 through April 1.

The following information was obtained from recent police reports.

March 26

Officers responded to an apartment building where two roommates were arguing. One was planning to file a restraining order against the other.

A resident called police because a man took a laptop out of his bag and placed it on a table at Starbucks, then went out to his truck and got more equipment and moved to a different table. Police contacted employees, who said no police response was necessary.

A worker at Burger King called police after a man was yelling at two juvenile females because they had apparently spilled water on him. The man threatened another family, got into his car and left. Employees did not get a description of the vehicle.

March 27

Police were called about a calf at large at Hudson Road and Manning Avenue South. An officer arrived and found a “black four-legged bovine calf” outside a fenced area. The officer attempted to pick up the calf, “despite verbal protests of mother.” The officer got the animal back inside the fence, and told the property owner to plow snow away from the fence line to prevent further calf escapes.

A caller told police a driver had left the parking lot of Woodbury Lutheran Church and was clearly drinking a Coors Light. Police found the man in his car in the driveway of his home, where he failed field sobriety tests, registered a .11 BAC and was arrested on suspicion of DWI.

Police were called to the 6000 block of Hudson Road after a person was threatened by several people about a parking issue. Parties involved were advised to resolve their issues in a less threatening manner.

A student reported that someone approached him about selling speakers at the parking lot of Holiday Stationstore. Police were able to contact the man, who said he was meeting someone through Craigslist.

March 28

A resident called police about someone removing cash from a cash machine at Wells Fargo. Officers arrived and learned it was an employee.

A woman met a man through mutual friends. He agreed to fix the water pump on her car for free. He did so. He then began to hit on her. When she did not reciprocate his advances, he asked her to pay $700 for the work and told her “she and her daughter better watch out.” She did not know the man’s last name and wanted the incident documented.

March 30

There was a complaint about protesters at US Bank. They were gone by the time police arrived. One of them had a sign that read: “US Bank Lobbyist Taking Money From Education.”

Police were called about someone being on Powers Lake.

March 31

A man seen taking trash bags from garbage cans at Tamarack Village was found to be employed by property owners and not scavenging.

Workers at Country Inn & Suites called police about a man in a car in the parking lot playing loud music. By the time officers arrived he had rented a room but was still causing problems. Police went to the door of his room and found that he was apparently drunk. An officer also noticed a nine-inch knife on that he apparently dropped after seeing police at the door. He was unable to take care of himself and he registered a registered a .21 BAC. The knife was locked in his car and he was transported to detox.

Workers at the Red Roof Inn called police about a group of drunken people who refused to leave. They were cited for underage drinking.

An officer was able to free an opossum that got trapped in a window well at a home at the 1000 block of Sprucewood Drive. The officer transported the animal to Carver Lake Park and set it free.

There was a report of two men checking doors of businesses at the Valley Creek Mall. They were gone by the time police arrived and never gained entry into the businesses.

April 1

A set of golf clubs was reported stolen from a garage at the 10600 block of Pond Curve. A woman who lives there told police she believed the likely culprits were likely friends of her sister, who had been arrested for being in a stolen car.
