Charges Filed in Stolen Safe Case

A 24-year-old man has been charged with felony aiding and abetting burglary stemming from a November 2011 incident in which .

Travail Adam Crumble, who remains at large, faces up to five years in prison and a $10,000 after police say he was involved in the theft of a 200-pound safe from Haven Chemical Health Systems, at the 2042 block of Wooddale Drive.

Inside the safe were clients’ checks, which could be cancelled, and about a dollar in cash from a patient’s co-pay, the owner told Patch at the time of the incident.

"So the total profit for them lugging it around was one dollar," Bob Haven said then.

On Nov. 1, employees saw two men carry something toward the exit, roll the item down a grassy hill and load it into the trunk of a waiting car, according to the criminal complaint.

The car sped off, but workers were able to get descriptions of two of the three men involved, and officers collected fingerprints from the scene, the complaint says.

St. Paul police later reported that the safe had been found at the 600 block of Aurora Avenue; it was pried open but some items were left inside.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension matched one of the prints to Crumble, who has no permanent address, according to the complaint.

Police later went to the home of Crumble’s mother, who lives at the same block where the safe was found, but she told them she didn’t know where he was and he is no longer welcome in her home.
