Christmas Crime, Counterfeit Cash, Break Down My Door: Woodbury Police Blotter

The following information was obtained from recent police reports.

A driver was cited for failure to yield following a head-on crash at Woodlane Drive and Stratford Road.

A report of suspicious people in a neighborhood on Oak Ridge Trail turned out to be two people from the Church of Latter-day Saints.

Pills, marijuana, a pipe and an open bottle were found in a car with four individuals inside when an officer stopped the vehicle over at the 6000 block of Hudson Road after seeing the occupants acting suspiciously.

An employee at the Red Roof Inn called police because she was concerned about a dog a customer had in a room. The renter told the employee she had given the dog “human” pain pills. Police made contact with the woman, who said the dog had a growth on its foot and was going to the vet soon. She did not let police in the room, but an officer could see inside and the animal was old but healthy and happy. The next day the renter called police about the encounter and began rambling about many different topics, and told police that if the dog is whining and she isn’t there, they should break the door down.

There were reports of burglaries at businesses at CityWalk and the 600 and 700 blocks of Commerce Drive. See:

A man who lives at the 2700 block of Wimbledon Drive reported that a handgun valued at $1,100 had been stolen from his truck. He wasn’t sure where or when the theft occurred.

An employee at McDonald’s asked for her manager to check the validity of a $50 bill a customer tried to use, and when she did the man fled. The bill was sent to the Secret Service. (There was a different report of a counterfeit bill in Woodbury recently.)

There was a complaint about a neighbor video recording a man while he picked up his son from Woodbury Elementary School.

A man stopped on suspicion of shoplifting at a business at the 7100 block of Valley Creek Plaza was found with what appeared to be meth in his possession. He was booked at the Washington County Jail. The subject is a convicted felon and he had a knife in his possession.

Someone played ding-dong ditch at a home on Teal Road and left a Big Lots cart on the front stoop.

Tools and gear—valued at more than $650 together—was reported stolen from a barn on the 7100 block of Military Road.

A Woodbury resident called police because she felt her neighbors were knocking down her Christmas decorations in an attempt to annoy her and get her to move. She said there were previous issues with neighbors and the latest incidents appeared to be retaliation.

The bedroom of a home on Wedgewood Drive was ransacked; jewelry was stolen while other pieces were scattered about the room.

A resident called police about people apparently hiding in his backyard. Officers told the man that a nearby party had been broken up and it was likely people fleeing from that incident.

A resident at a Guider Drive apartment building told police that she heard a banging on her door. She looked through her peephole to see a woman who appeared to be drunk and was yelling about “titties and drugs.” The woman then took a painting off a wall and raised it above her head and smashed it on the floor. The resident had only lived there a week and had never seen the person before. Police checked the area but were unable to locate the woman.

An incident between two on-again, off-again friends continued at HOM Furniture. There was a recent incident in which they were both drinking and a pizza had been left in the oven after one passed out, filling the home with smoke. There was a dispute about cleaning it up. On Jan. 13 at the store, where one of them works, the other showed up and caused a scene.

Police received a report of shoplifting at Sally’s Beauty Supply.

Police received a report of a Honda swerving all over the road and nearly going off the street at Radio Drive and Lake Road.
