Deck Catches Fire at Woodbury Home on Commonwealth Ave.

The Fire Department was called to the home at about 4:45 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 25.

Firefighters believe smoldering cigarettes were to blame for a Sunday deck fire at a Woodbury home.

Crews were called at 4:43 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, to the 3300 block of Commonwealth Avenue, said Woodbury Fire Cmdr. John Wallgren.

By the time firefighters arrived, the homeowners had basically put out the fire using a hose, he said. Most units were cancelled.

There was “significant” damage to the back deck and some siding on the home also melted, Wallgren said. No one was hurt.
