Deli Dozer, Garage Sale Traffic Tussle, Hateful Duct Tape: Woodbury Police Blotter

Selected calls to the Woodbury Public Safety Department from May 8-13.

The following information was obtained from recent police reports.

May 8

A woman staying at the Red Roof Inn with her boyfriend called police because he was drunk and trying to leave with their child. He was upset because he discovered her talking to another man on her cell phone. Police made contact with the man, who showed several signs of intoxication. An officer gave him a ride to a friend’s house in Cottage Grove.

May 9

A man saw two teenagers with flashlights looking into cars, and they fled toward Tamarack Hills when he opened the door of his home. Police searched the area but did not find the teens. There was no evidence they were able to commit a crime.

Police were called about people yelling at each other during a traffic jam caused by the Woodbury Lions Community Garage Sale. Traffic along Halsted Trail was completely backed up in both directions, and an officer worked to clear the jam and explained that police could not block off the road.

May 10

Employees at Cub Foods contacted police about a man sleeping in a chair in the deli area. An officer arrived and found the man still asleep. He left without incident.

A fishing boat valued at $9,000, along with other items, were reported stolen from an out-building at the 11000 block of Valley Creek Road. The home was being foreclosed on and the bank told the owner they did not repossess the boat.

A citizen called police after finding the door to Nourish open after business hours. The cash drawer inside was also open. Police suspected the door was not fully closed by employees and secured the establishment.

May 12

Employees at the Norma Lane SuperAmerica called police after two vehicles parked at the pumps but did not get fuel or go inside the gas station. The cars were gone by the time police arrived.

Someone used duct tape to create a swastika on the back of a car parked at the 7700 block of Havenwood Circle. It was the Woodbury resident’s parents’ car, and they didn’t notice the symbol until going to church, where a fellow parishioner told them about it. They immediately removed the duct tape, and police provided them with crime-prevention tips.

May 13

A resident was told that crews working at 3 a.m. at Tamarack Village were “eliminating a public hazard” and were exempt from city noise ordinances.

Authorities told a resident at the 6800 block of Sandlewood Road to stop using water to clean up a gas spill and use a dry compound to clean it up.
