Getaway Car Runs Out of Gas, Jewelry Thief Sentenced

Carl Junior Jordan, 24, was sentenced to four years in prison following the October 2011 jewelry theft at a Woodbury home.

A St. Paul man in Woodbury has been sentenced to four years in prison with credit for 205 days served.

Carl Junior Jordan, 24, was recently sentenced on the felony burglary charge.

On Oct. 17, 2011, Newport police found Jordan on the side of the road about 35 minutes after a Woodbury home was burglarized. The home, at the 6800 block of Orchard Ridge Trail in Woodbury, had thousands of dollars worth of jewelry stolen from it.

A short time later, Newport police reported that a man—later identified as Jordan—was on the side of the road at Glen Road and 10th Street after his car ran out of gas, according to the criminal complaint.

He was acting antsy and nervous, the complaint says, and he matched the description of the individual involved in the Woodbury break-in. Jordan was also driving a white Chevrolet similar to one reported near the home at the time of the theft.

More than 130 items of jewelry worth $8,172 were recovered from Jordan’s vehicle, according to the complaint.

The total value of items stolen from the Woodbury home was estimated at $13,172 to $18,172; a Rolex watch belonging to the homeowner was not found.
