Growling Man Faces Felony Drug Charge

Woodbury police found Gerald Eugene Holmes with methamphetamine, and he had also urinated on himself, according to the criminal complaint.

A man who police say urinated on himself and was growling and making strange noises in the back of a squad car after being arrested has been hit with a felony drug count.

Gerald Eugene Holmes, 47, of Cottage Grove, faces up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine on the drug charge after police found methamphetamine in his backpack, according to the criminal complaint.

Officers arrived and found Holmes, who had a large wet spot in the front of his pants and admitted he was “tripping” after drinking alcohol and injecting prescription medicine, the complaint says.

After he was arrested and placed in the back of a squad car, Holmes was acting strangely: sometimes growling at the cage dividing the front and back seats and making other odd noises, the complaint says. He was also rubbing something between his fingers and officers, upon arrival at the Washington County Jail, found the remnants of a small rock of crystal-like substance dispersed on the back seat.

In Holmes’ backpack officers also found a pipe and methamphetamine, according to the complaint.
