Jailbreak Hoax, Robbery, Unwanted Flirting: Woodbury Police Blotter

Selected calls to the Woodbury Public Safety Department from Oct. 22-28.

The following information was obtained from recent police reports.

Oct. 22

A Keller Williams real estate agent who was showing a home at the 1400 block of Schooner Way called police after he saw a woman looking in a dresser at the home. He apparently interrupted the woman during a possible theft; she did not seem interested in buying the home. The Realtor got the license plate number of the car in which she left, and police obtained a driver’s license photo of the car’s owner, which matched the description of the woman. She has a history of pawning jewelry.

Oct. 23

Police were called to a house on Leyland Trail after the homeowner reported two people knocking loudly at the back door. The caller confronted the duo, and they said they were looking for a person the homeowner didn’t know. They left in a silver sedan, and police checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.

A woman who lives at the 3300 block of Juliet Drive called police after finding the handle on her front door loose and pry marks on the doorjamb. Her boyfriend was home all day and didn’t hear anything, and neighbors didn’t see anything suspicious.

Oct. 24

An employee at Liberty Ridge Elementary reported seeing a woman driving by and taking video of the school. Police discussed reporting suspicious activity when it occurs. An officer checked the area but did not see the vehicle.

Police received a report of two men in orange jumpsuits, handcuffed together, running at Century Avenue near Lower Afton Road. Officers made contact with the nearby Ramsey County detention center and determined no inmates were missing. It appeared to be a hoax.

Oct. 25

A Bleeker Street resident complained that her illegally parked car was towed but other vehicles similarly parked weren’t because of an ongoing dispute with neighbors.

A resident at the 8800 block of Pheasant Run Road called police after she backed into a car seat that had been placed in her driveway. She has a teenage son and assumed it was moved there as part of a prank.

After being cut off by another driver, a motorist honked at the car and was then followed. The driver who was cut off drove into the parking lot at the Woodbury Public Safety Department, and the other car sped off south on Radio Drive.

Oct. 26

A man reported being robbed during a walk on Harvest Path. He said another man approached him and demanded his money, which he turned over. The suspect then took his cell phone. The man attempted to give chase after getting into his roommate’s vehicle, but he ran over a tree on a boulevard. He went to a neighbor’s house and tried to call his phone, then called his girlfriend, then police. The case was forwarded to the PD’s investigations unit.

Oct. 27

A fight broke out between family members at Woodwinds Hospital. The mother is dying and they had been on a two-day vigil. No one wanted to press charges.

Employees at Cub Foods found a drunken juvenile—missing a shoe and covered in dirt—sleeping in a cart storage area. Officers arrived and he was released to his father.

Police were called about a man hitting on female employees at Osaka. He had tried to enter employee areas, as well. Police found him, apparently intoxicated, near his truck. He was initially handcuffed after refusing to comply with officers’ demands. He was eventually released to his wife.

Oct. 28

Police received a report of a vehicle with expired tabs parked in a handicapped spot at Rainbow Foods. It was gone by the time officers arrived.
