Updated: No Issue Found After Police Seal Off Woodbury Neighborhood

Police received a call about a person in the Royal Oaks neighborhood who may have been suicidal with access to a gun, but the individual told officers there was no problem.

Woodbury police on Friday afternoon sealed off part of the Royal Oaks neighborhood after getting a call that a person who had access to a gun may have been suicidal.

At approximately 11 a.m. Thursday the received a call from a person who lives in Texas, indicating that a man living in the 1600 block of Lamplight Drive may be suicidal with possible access to a gun, according to a release from the department.

Officers responded to the home and made contact with the individual, who told police there was not a problem, the release says.

Rick Price, who lives in the Royal Oaks neighborhood, said his family received a call saying schools were not sending children who live in the area home Friday afternoon.

By 3:10 p.m., he said they were told that the situation had been resolved but there was still a police presence in the area. There were no emergency vehicles in the area at 4:20 p.m.

“This was Woodbury Police Department’s first use of Code Red, our emergency notification telephone system,” reads the release. “Forty-five homes in the neighborhood were contacted with a recorded message letting them know about the incident. Ninety-six percent of the homes contacted received the message.”
