Man Charged After Woman Jumps from Balcony in Alleged Domestic Violence Incident

William Douglas Wood, 33, faces a felony charge of making terroristic threats and a misdemeanor domestic-assault charge.

A Woodbury man has been charged following a Feb. 5 incident in which his to escape him after an alleged altercation.

William Douglas Wood, 33, faces a felony charge of making terroristic threats and a misdemeanor domestic-assault charge. If convicted on both counts he faces up to five years and 90 days in prison and $11,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint:

Just after 11 p.m. on Feb. 5, were called to the 10700 block of Falling Water Lane on a report of a domestic assault. Officers made contact with the victim, who had scratches on her neck and chest, blood in her hair, dried blood on her lower lip and a swollen right ankle.

She told police Wood had assaulted her. They had been seeing each other since March 2011.

The couple had been arguing over the past few days, she told officers, and things escalated that night. She said he pushed her up against a wall, and when she was able to get free and crawl away he grabbed her by the hair and lifted her up and pushed her toward a window. Wood then continued to bang her head against the window, she told officers.

He then let her go, but knocked her down and punched her in the chest and started tearing off her shirt, choking her and telling her he was going to kill her.

The woman was able to jump from a deck and sought refuge at a neighbor’s house.
