Man Allegedly Terrorizes Woodbury Girlfriend, Threatens to Kill Her Daughter

If convicted of the charges, Francis Albert Campbell, 39, faces more than nine years in prison and a $15,000 fine.

A Maplewood man made his second appearance in a Washington County court on Nov. 17 after being charged with four separate domestic assault-related crimes against a Woodbury woman.

Francis Albert Campbell, 39, was arrested by Woodbury police on Nov. 10 after he allegedly threatened to kill his girlfriend’s daughter and beat up the woman in her Woodbury apartment.

According to a Washington County criminal complaint, Campbell got angry with the woman and her daughter after food was spilled in her car.

The complaint stated Campbell yelled at the daughter when the three arrived home and, when the woman told him he was out of line and that he should leave, Campbell pushed her onto the couch and began repeatedly punching her all over her body.

The woman told Woodbury police that Cambell told her repeatedly that he wanted to break her nose and punch all her teeth out as he continued to strike her, the complaint says.

Campbell then went to the kitchen, grabbed a handful of knives and threatened to kill the woman’s daughter, the complaint stated.

Campbell also reportedly unplugged the house phones and confiscated the woman’s cell phones to stop her from calling 911.

According to the complaint:

“The defendant told her that if she tried to run for help or if a neighbor heard her screaming or calling for help that he would kill her daughter and leave her with the guilt of losing her daughter. She stated that the defendant told her several times that if a neighbor called the police or if anyone else came to the door that he would immediately run to her daughter's room and kill her with a knife.”

The alleged assault began between 7-8:30 p.m. and lasted well into the morning hours, the complaint stated.

Several times throughout the night Campbell choked the victim almost to the point of unconsciousness and taunted her about killing her daughter, the complaint stated.

The complaint also stated Campbell was paranoid the next morning but that the woman downplayed the assault in an effort to calm him and formulate an escape plan.

The woman was not able to contact police until the morning of Nov. 8, at which time they noticed several deep bruises, cuts and swollen areas on her face, neck, arms and hands.

Campbell was taken into custody on Nov. 10 and charged with the following offenses:

Campbell is scheduled to have an omnibus hearing on Dec. 14. If convicted of the charges against him, Campbell faces more than nine years in prison and a $15,000 fine.
