Updated: Pedestrian Hit At Woodbury SuperAmerica

The man was transported to Regions Hospital Wednesday morning and is in critical condition.

A pedestrian was stuck by an SUV Wednesday morning at the on Norma Lane in Woodbury.

The man was trapped underneath the 2005 Ford Excursion, and Woodbury fire personnel were able to get him out from beneath the vehicle, said Sgt. Sue McMahon with the .

The driver has been identified as 47-year-old Michael Carroll, of Woodbury. The victim is Kenneth Burke, 65, of Little Canada.

Burke was conscious following the accident, McMahon said at the scene at about 11:15 a.m. Wednesday morning.

He was transported to Regions Hospital in St. Paul and is in critical condition, said Jay Alberio, public information officer with the Woodbury PD.

Carroll told the Star Tribune he didn't see the man.

A release from the police department says the incident happened at about 10:15 a.m. At this point, is not believed that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the incident.

Bystanders at the gas station tried to comfort the Little Canada man and administer first aid, McMahon said.

“We certainly appreciate that from the public—being so compassionate,” she said.

The area was surrounded with police tape Wednesday morning as investigators tried to piece together what happened. Officers were taking witness statements and finding out if surveillance footage of the incident is available, McMahon said.

The Minnesota State Patrol is assisting with the investigation.
