Police Blotter: Driver Etiquette, Let That Raccoon Go, Mailbox Fireworks

Selected calls to the Woodbury Public Safety Department from June 28 through July 3.

The following information was obtained from recent police reports.

June 28

Police were called about three unattended children in an SUV in a parking lot at the 8200 block of Tamarack Village. Officers discussed safety concerns with the driver.

A road rage incident broke out after one driver nearly hit another while speeding through the parking lot near the . The two motorists headed eastbound on Tamarack Road, and the caller said the other driver flipped her off. When they arrived at a stoplight, the other driver, a man, told her: “You little (expletive), why don’t you learn to drive, (expletive)?” She then said to him: “Why don’t you learn to drive?” That was the extent of the incident.

A resident at the 2100 block of Grand Birch Lane called police after seeing two people in a parked car roll up a joint and smoke it. Officers arrived and found the pair, but the marijuana had been smoked. Police did destroy two pipes.

June 29

A resident at the 3400 block of Cherry Lane called police about ongoing incidents in which kids ride down a hill and damage her property.

Employees at the Hudson Road called police after a man was asking customers for money or gas. Officers located the individual, who said he only asked one person and left the gas station when he was asked to.

Police were called about a man who got upset and was kicking and hitting walls in an apartment at the 10200 block of Grand Forest Lane. He was upset because his grandfather had been evicted after a narcotics search warrant was executed at the home. He told police his friend was the reason for the search warrant and his grandparents should not have been evicted. Police told him future outbursts could result in charges.

A resident called police about a possible watering violation at the . Officers informed the man that the BSC .

Police were called about a possible domestic assault the 2300 block of Cochrane Drive. A woman had signs of an assault on her neck, but the man could not be immediately located.

A cell phone was reported stolen from a community pool at the 11000 block of Sweetwater Path.

A man was arrested on suspicion of domestic assault following an incident at the parking lot.

A woman watching her sister, brother and cousin at called police after seeing a man on a bicycle watching them and then approach the playground equipment. She told the children to run to the nearby fire station and called police because the incident seemed suspicious.

A resident at the 1300 block of Clearwater Drive called police after someone set off an M98 firecracker in her mailbox.

A Woodbury man sitting on a curb near the intersection of Valley Creek Road and City Centre Drive was taken to detox. Officers were unable to understand what he was saying and he couldn’t follow simple requests or answer questions.

June 30

A driver was pulled over near the intersection of Tamarack Road and Winterberry Drive after he was crossing lane lines several times. He did not have any alcohol in his system, but police found a marijuana pipe and a prescription bottle that smelled of the drug. He was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and his brother came and picked him up.

A child was bit on the face by a small shih tzu at the Dale Road dog park. The mother of the child did not get the dog owner’s information.

Police helped employees at the evict a woman who had refused to pay her hotel bill.

A resident at the 2400 block of Golf Place called police after finding a glass door shattered and thought it may have been an attempted burglary. Nothing was missing.

Police were called about two young girls riding on a motorized scooter in the Central Park parking lot and along Interlachen Parkway. Officers were unable to locate the girls.

July 1

A resident at the 1100 block of Saddlebrook Lane who had trapped a troublesome raccoon was advised that he should let the animal go. (Trapping is prohibited in the residential area of Woodbury.) He told police he would let it go.

Police were called about several vehicle break-ins in the area of Alyssa Road.

A mulch pile that caught fire was put out by the Woodbury Fire Department. A caller said he saw three juvenile males in the area before the fire broke out.

An official with Wells Fargo security called police to say a cleaning crew was not supposed to be at the bank. Officers found all the doors locked and the building secured and were put on hold when they called the security official.

July 3

License plates were stolen from two vehicles parked in a driveway at the 2500 block of Copper Cliff Trail. A woodpile was also knocked over at the home, and a pack of cigarettes were taken from one vehicle. Police did not receive any similar reports in the area that night, but there were similar incidents the night before.
