Police Blotter: Scared of Spiders Not Jail, Paper Problem, Stolen Undies

The following information was obtained from recent police reports.

Police were able to locate the vehicle of a person suspected of stealing a bottle of perfume and tote bag from . The individual was cited for theft.

A resident at the 11000 block of Dogwood Road was told to put out a brush fire and obtain a permit next time.

Police were called about a possible break-in at a home at the 8800 block of Pheasant Run Road. A homeowner returned to the house to find a broken window lock on the floor. No suspects were located.

Police were called about people smoking marijuana in a parking lot at the 400 block of Lake View Alcove. Police located one of the individuals, who admitted to smoking marijuana but didn’t have any left. He turned over a pipe, which was destroyed, and agreed not to do it again.

A woman at the 2400 block of Cobble Hill Alcove called police because she wanted her boyfriend removed from the townhome. Officers arrived and the man was sleeping. When awoken he provided police with a lease that showed he was on it. The woman declined suggestions to go to a women’s shelter and police asked the man to sleep in the living room. He said: “I ain’t afraid of guns, I’ve been shot before. I ain’t afraid of jail, I’ve been there plenty before… but I am afraid of spiders. You see all these spiders out here in the living room? I can’t sleep here. Have you seen Arachnophobia? That’s scary (expletive).” When officers left, he was settling into the living room and all appeared calm. Police learned the woman was upset because he had impregnated another woman; he was heading for Chicago sometime in the next few days.

A cell phone with a Hello Kitty sticker on it was reported stolen from the bathroom at Wendy’s.

Police were called after two fishermen started a small fire in the woods near Battle Creek Lake. Police made them put it out with lake water and advised them not to do it again.

Police were called about a drunken man at . His girlfriend and the restaurant manager called police to say that he was drunk, had stopped being served alcohol and had been going to his car to smoke and drink from a bottle in the vehicle. He said he didn’t have anywhere to go, so police called his sister, who lives nearby, and she refused to come and get him. He was transported to Dakota County detox.

Woodbury police were called after people were seen shooting rifles at the future site of a local church in a field in Afton.

Police were unable to locate a motorist seen driving the wrong way down Interlachen Parkway.

Police were called to the 6900 block of Macbeth Circle after a cab dropped off two people, one of whom the driver accused of stealing a bottle of cologne from the glove box. Police checked the individual and his home but did not find the cologne.

A purse was stolen from a car at the 6200 block of Edgewood Avenue, and a credit card from it was used at .

A resident at the 6800 block of Jenny Lane called police to ask for help in finding a phone number for a store at which she purchased a kettle 40 years ago. Officers provided information on how to obtain the number.

A resident at the 6000 block of Woodbine Avenue called police after newspapers (a Twin Cities daily) were continually left in his driveway. He asked officials at the newspaper to stop delivery; they told him: “Tough.” Police advised him to try again.

Golf clubs (valued at $1,300) and equipment were reported stolen from a detached garage at the 6100 block of Dell Lane North.

A resident called police after she inadvertently cut off another motorist and he followed her to the parking lot. He got out of his car and began taking photos of her vehicle. She told the daycare director about the incident and wanted it documented with police.

A resident at the 6400 block of Rath Drive told police her boyfriend’s daughter had been stealing her clothing, some of which were returned, including five pair of underwear, which she refuses to wear again.

Police were called about a road rage incident that ended in the Target parking lot. The caller said two 20-year-olds, a man and a woman, got out of their car and started pounding on her windows and complaining about poor driving.

There was a report of the sound of an explosion near the 8800 block of Summer Wind Circle and power went out in the area. Xcel was notified. (A Woodbury Patch Facebook fan said power went out at and .)
