Squad Car Kicking, Plainly Concerned, Just a Tan: Woodbury Police Blotter

Selected calls to the Woodbury Public Safety Department from Jan. 2-8.

The following information was obtained from recent police reports.

Jan. 2

Employees at a financial-planning company were threatened via voicemail by a man who claimed the company lost all his money. One worker was visibly upset when talking to police about the incident, and officers strongly encouraged him to obtain a restraining order, but he said he only wanted it documented at that time.

An employee at the PM Bedroom Gallery called police to report that a former employee and his brother stole a nightstand valued at $634 from the store.

Police received a report of a plane flying low to the ground above Interstate 494 and Valley Creek Road. Officers checked the area but did not spot a plane.

Jan. 3

Employees at McDonald’s called police a little after 1:30 a.m. after seeing a truck parked outside the main entrance since 10:45 p.m. An officer made contact with the driver, who said he was working out an email issue. Police found no problems.

Copper pipes and other equipment was reported stolen from a Habitat for Humanity construction site at the 600 block of Gateway Place.

A resident at the 3100 block of Frontier Drive called police after hearing noises that sounded like gunshots. An officer arrived and heard the sounds, which were consistent with a .22 caliber gun or a nail gun. There was construction going on in the area but police couldn’t locate the source of the sound.

Police determined that a man who happened upon a woman who has a restraining order against him was at Darque Tan to tan and not to harass her.

A woman called employees at Express to ask about a necklace she had left in a fitting room. She estimated the value of the necklace at $35,000—it’s 18-karat gold and has 1.5 carats in diamonds—and told police it also holds significant religious value to her. It was later found in a drawer at the store and was returned to the woman.

Jan. 4

A woman who was arrested at Wal-Mart was detained in the back of a squad car and started kicking one of the windows several times, to the point that the window went out of its track.

Jan. 5

Employees at SuperAmerica called police after a man was making customers uncomfortable because he was in his car yelling for 20 minutes. Officers made contact with the man, who said he was on the phone having an argument with his daughter’s mother and everything was fine, he was just leaving.

A woman who often comes into Thanh Truc—and complains and uses profanity and tries to get a free meal—was gone by the time police arrived after workers called the Public Safety Department about her. Officers advised workers to call back the next time she comes in so she can be trespassed from the restaurant.

Jan. 6

After a night of drinking with his girlfriend, man called police to report that her daughter’s boyfriend tackled him and he fell into his bar and cut his head after they got into an argument. Police made several attempts to make contact with the parties but were unsuccessful.

Jan. 7

A resident at the 8000 block of Greenbriar Lane called police after a woman came to her door and knocked, then left when the homeowner didn’t answer, then returned and tried to force open a service door. When the woman who lives at the home opened an interior door to the garage, the woman left in an unidentified vehicle. The homeowner had waited an hour to call police and officers didn’t find the individual.

Jan. 8

A St. Paul resident called police to say she had a suspect after her tires were punctured while she was at Woodwinds Health Campus. The caller told police there had been issues between, her, her boyfriend and one of his ex-girlfriends.
