Suspicious Superman, Kitchen Kicking, Gambling or Gunpoint?: Woodbury Police Blotter

Selected calls to the Woodbury Public Safety Department from April 30 through May 6.

The following information was obtained from recent police reports.

April 30

A resident contacted police about a neighbor “burning things that should not be burned.” Police learned that other city officials were handling the matter.

A verbal argument broke out between two men in the Wal-Mart parking lot. One had left by the time officers arrived, and police found that one man was upset because the other had parked in a slot reserved for bank parking.

Employees at Rainbow Foods contacted police about an unattended suitcase and duffel bag outside the entrance. Inside the luggage police found a bottle of Ambien and items from the Red Roof Inn. Police checked motel records and found that the owner of the items had checked out earlier that day. Workers at the grocery store kept the suitcase and bag in the event the owner returned to retrieve them.

Police were called about a resident using a leaf blower a little after 10 p.m. The caller found it odd. The area was checked and the person was not found.

May 1

A resident was involved in a previous property damage accident and called police after someone came to the door and asked for Jose, though no one by that name lives there. The caller thought it was related to the previous incident.

May 2

A resident at the 7800 block of Rimbley Road called police after she saw a neighbor giving her “the bird” as she left for work that morning. There was no direct threat made. There have been ongoing issues between the two. The incident was documented.

May 3

While on routine patrol, an officer spotted a vehicle pulled up on the grass on the side of Woodlane Drive near Valley Creek Road. A man was sitting alone inside the car with all the windows rolled down, though it was cold and snowing. The man is known to police from previous issues and is known to carry weapons. Police asked him how much he had to drink and he said “not much” and held up a coffee cup. He registered a 0.0 on a preliminary breath test but showed signs of intoxication. He said he was sitting there watching traffic and the snow.

Security at Woodbury Lakes called police after a Wisconsin woman left the Buckle and set off the security alarm. She was found with a tampered security tag but surveillance footage showed no criminal activity. She left in her car and police stopped her after she made an illegal left turn. She was found to have a suspended license and was cited.

May 4

A resident called police after hearing suspicious noises (puppies growling and whining) at the Woodbury dog park. Police learned the noises came from dogs on property north of the park.

Police learned that a man filed a false police report. He initially told officers he was robbed at gunpoint in the Wal-Mart parking lot, but surveillance footage revealed inaccuracies in his statement. He later admitted he lost his money gambling at Mystic Lake. He told police his wife made him file a report and he did so because he did not want to admit he lost all their money gambling. He was not charged.

Police were called about a man wearing a red superhero outfit and mask near Bielenberg Drive and Curell Boulevard. He appeared to be was heading toward a nearby bank. “Area checked for Superman,” reads the report. “Unable to locate.”

May 5

Two people in an apartment at the 10300 block of City Walk Drive handed over to police a small amount of marijuana following a complaint. They were cooperative and not charged.

May 6

A fight between two cooks broke out at Sunsets. One of the men involved locked himself in the employee bathroom. The other, who kicked his coworker, was cited.
