Snow Thursday

There were nine incidents on Woodbury streets as of 3:30 p.m. Thursday following yet another late-season snowfall.

“And it’s not even rush hour yet,” Woodbury Police Cmdr. John Altman said.

There were no injuries reported, and most of the incidents involved cars going off the road, Altman said. People on the Woodbury Patch Facebook page also reported slippery conditions on local streets.

Up to six inches of snow was expected across the metro area Thursday night into Friday. The National Weather Service reports that a winter storm warning is still in effect.

Meanwhile, as part of Severe Weather Awareness Week, sirens went off at 1:45 p.m. Washington County planned to conduct a second drill at 6:55 p.m. Thursday.

Dean Tilley, radio system manager with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, said he has been part of drills since 1996, and this is the first time he remembers snow falling during a tornado drill.

Woodbury crews started spot salting at 2 p.m. and started plowing priority roads at 4 p.m.
