The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is seeking applications for its Reserves program.

Then Reserves patrol the streets and parks and waterways with licensed deputies and help out with public events, civic emergencies and crime scenes, said Laura Ochs, a member of the Reserves.

“We’re available for whatever the county needs,” she said, noting their presence at Oakdale’s Sept. 10 Touch A Truck event.

Those chosen must also complete the Reserve Deputy Sheriff’s Academy at the Washington County Law Enforcement Center in Stillwater. It’s set to begin in January 2014, and run for one evening each week from January through April.
