Wearing Three Shirts and Three Pairs of Pants, Man Faces Drug Charge

Sonny Sandor Erdos-Thanthavongsa was being questioned for allegedly shoplifting at Kohl's when police found heroin in his possession, the complaint says.

Woodbury police found a St. Paul man wearing several layers of clothing during an apparent theft at Kohl’s in October 2012, and later discovered heroin in his possession.

Sonny Sandor Erdos-Thanthavongsa, 23, recently made his initial court appearance on a felony fifth-degree drug charge.

Kohl’s employees at about 4 p.m. Oct. 10, 2012, told police the man was concealing items under his clothes, going into the changing room, exchanging items and stealing socks, according to the complaint.

Officers arrived and approached the man, identified as Erdos-Thanthavongsa, and he admitted he was wearing several layers of stolen clothing.

He also had a syringe, tourniquet, Q-Tips and a small bottle with what later tested positive for heroin, the complaint says.

Since his arrest in Woodbury, Erdos-Thanthavongsa has been charged with four other thefts in Anoka, Dakota and Hennepin counties.

If convicted on the charge stemming from the Woodbury incident, he faces up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
