Woodbury Alligator Finds A New Home

A Scandia man who runs a petting zoo has decided to adopt the animal, according to a twincities.com report.

An alligator that and was found a day later at has found a new home in Scandia.

According to a twincities.com story, the alligator, named Roger, has been adopted by Bob Pilz, who runs a petting zoo and educational animal farm.

The gator escaped from a home at the 9600 block of Wedgewood Draw in Woodbury on July 3 and was found the next day in a pond at the golf course. (.)

The alligator’s owner and his wife admitted to keeping the reptile as a pet for the past three years, according to a report. Neighbors also told officers that they had spotted the couple with the animal for the past several years.

The man was given a citation, and he assured police he would find a new home for the alligator, which, as it turns out, is now a petting zoo in Scandia.

Still, Pilz told the Pioneer Press that he will have to work to find the alligator a new home when it grows to its full size; it’s too tame to be released into the wild.
