Woodbury Man Faces Jail Time For Allegedly Slapping, Locking Out 13-Year-Old Son

If convicted of the charges against him, Thomas Daniel Davison, 41, could face up to a year in prison and a $3,000 fine

A Woodbury man was arrested and charged with gross misdemeanor malicious punishment of a child in connection with an alleged incident that occured on Dec. 6 in the 7800 block of Irish Avenue in Cottage Grove.

According to a Washington County criminal complaint filed on Dec. 12:

Thomas Daniel Davison, 41, was questioned and taken into custody by Cottage Grove police after allegedly using the back of his hand to slap his 13-year-old son across the face.

According to the complaint, Davison and his son got into an argument, which concluded by Davison locking the boy out of the house. 

The boy proceeded to then ring the doorbell repeatedly and when the boy's mother attempted to intervene, Davison allegedly grabbed her by the arm and threw her to the ground.

In a post-incident interview, police photographed a cut on the inside of the boy's lip and documented blood on his shirt and on the ground outside the home. 

The complaint also says Davison admitted to harming the boy and locking him out of the house when questioned by officers. 

The complaint lists Davison's current residence as the 11000 block of Oak Grove Circle in Woodbury.

On Dec. 8, District Court Judge Ellen Maas issued a no-contact order against Davison, which effectively bars any contact between the man and his son. 

Davison is scheduled to appear in Washington County court on Feb. 6. If convicted of the charges against him, Davison could face up to a year in prison and a $3,000 fine.
