Woodbury PD Blotter: Drugs in Schools, Domestic Disputes and a Grab-N-Dash

The following information was obtained from recent police reports.

Nov. 3

• WPD was asked to check on the welfare of a woman suspected to be living in her car in the northwest corner of the Home Depot parking lot. WPD found the woman to have plenty of blankets and in no distress.

• A woman reported that unknown person(s) went into her vehicle which was parked in the driveway in the 6300 block of Oakwood Road. The person(s) allegedly "moved things about inside" the vehicle but did not steal anything. No damage was reported.

• Two women were caught shoplifting from Justice Store in the 7100 block of Valley Creek Plaza. The women grabbed approximately $100 worth of clothing and ran out of the store to a waiting vehicle.

• A woman received a suspected fradulent phone call from an unknown male claiming she had won a contest from Reader's Digest. The woman gave the man no personal information, hung up the phone and called WPD.

• WPD investigated graffiti "ZILLA" at Potawatomi Park. Area youths told officers the graffiti had been present for about a year.

• A woman received a phone call from 1-888-641-3406. A person(s) on the line told her she owed the company money and they were planning to send the police to serve a subpoena and take her to jail. The caller demanded to know her account number and routing information.

• Staff at a group home in the 1200 block of Fallbrook Lane called WPD and reported a loud and boisterous resident causing a disturbance. The resident then left the premises, prompting staff to call WPD again and report a missing person. No crimes were committed.

• A woman called WPD after her juvenile son, who does not live at her Century Circle residence, refused to leave. The boy was causing a disturbance and trying to get in the home.

• WPD was called after three men living in the 2600 block of Town Lake Drive were found to have cut down several trees on city property.

• WPD was called to the scene of an automobile accident at the corner of Settlers Ridge Parkway and Bailey Road. A vehicle failed to stop at a sign and struck another vehicle, causing it to roll into the adjacent ditch. No injuries were reported.

Nov. 4

• WPD conducted a K9 sniff of two lockers inside East Ridge High School and two vehicles in the parking lot. Controlled substances were found in the lockers but nothing was found in the vehicles.

• A woman reported that a man she met online visited her from Chicago. When he left, the woman realized that her checkbook was gone and that a check had been written in her name to his business. The woman contacted WPD and filed an official report.

• An eighth-grade boy at Woodbury Middle School was found in possession of 0.27 grams of marajuana on school grounds. WPD issued a verbal warning and destroyed the drug.

• An eighth-grade boy at Woodbury Middle School was found selling stolen property in the hallways. The boy was selling iHome brand earbuds and Skullcandy earbuds which he admitted stealing from Kohl's and Marshalls, respectively. WPD issued a verbal warning and returned the items.

• A woman entered the Rainbow Foods in the 7000 block of Valley Creek Road and began yelling at customer service employees. The woman has done the same on several occassions. The store manager did not press charges but asked WPD to issue a trespass notice the next time the woman enters the store.

• A woman asked WPD to document a child custody issue. Her minor son allegedly told her he did not want to go to his father's house over the weekend. The woman suspects her ex-husband brought the boy on a hunting trip over the deer-opener weekend.

• WPD was called to an auto accident at the corner of Mahle Lane and Lydia Alcove. No injuries were reported.

• A man called WPD to report an unknown person(s) had opened a PayPal Smart Connect account in his name. The perpetrator charged $1,985.98 in his name. The man is working with PayPal and GE Capital to correct the situation.

• A resident at 79 Cimarron (Lake Elmo, Minn.) reported seeing flames and smoke at 75 Cimarron.

• A woman called WPD after realizing that a debit card she ordered from her bank had been intercepted and charges of $1406 were charged with an addition $818 pending. All of the cash withdrawls came from outside Woodbury. 

• An anonymous caller contacted WPD regarding two males seen smoking a pipe and urinating in public on Knollwood Lane. The suspects drove away and no license plate was recorded.

• The driver of a red SUV allegedly threw a slushy at the caller's car and then drove off. The alleged incident took place at Valley Creek Road and I-494.

Nov. 5

• WPD responded to a domestic dispute in the 2200 block of Cypress Drive. A man and a woman were arguing over paying for damages to a crashed vehicle. The man ultimately got a hotel room for the night.

• WPD responded to a domestic dispute in the 1500 block of Parkwood Drive. A man and woman were arguing and causing a disturbance while a baby was present in the apartment. WPD transported the woman and her baby to her mother's house.

Nov. 6

• Two housemates of a group home in the 3200 block of Meadow Brook Place got in a physical confrontation about the music one of them was listening to. One woman threw her housemates stereo down a flight of stairs. WPD issued no warnings and left disciplinary action to staff.

• WPD responded to a trepass disturbance in the 8700 block of Quarry Ridge Lane. A man and woman who ended a romantic relationship two months prior were arguing about an ad placed on match.com. The woman refused to leave the man's residence and WPD issued a trespass notice.

Nov. 7

• WPD responded to an auto accident with injuries at the corner of Manning Avenue and Bailey Road. WPD assisted officers from the Minnesota State Patrol.

• WPD responded to a suspected hit-and-run on I-94, east of Radio Drive. A woman driving a Dodge Neon reported that a silver vehicle struck her car and then drove off. WPD transferred the call to the Minnesota State Patrol.

• WPD assisted deputies from the Washington County Sheriff's Office in a narcotics arrest in the 6400 block of Lake Road Terrace.

• WPD responded to a domestic dispute in the 8400 block of Ashford Road. A husband and wife were arguing about an event that the husband missed over the weekend prior. The couple agreed to separation within the home.
