Woodbury PD Blotter: July 28-Aug. 2

Stolen vehicle, vandalism, fight, coyote sighting highlight this week's police reports.

The following information was obtained from recent police reports.

Police were called to the Woodbury 10 Theatre on July 29 on a report of a fight between two women. Police responded and determined that no fight took place, though a Patch reader reported that it was a “brutal” altercation.

A Woodbury parent called police on July 29 after his son came home drunk and was brought to the hospital with alcohol poisoning. He was concerned with parental supervision at a party, which apparently took place in the Colby Lake neighborhood. The 17-year-old boy said the alcohol was obtained by another juvenile.

A Woodbury man called police on July 29 to report that two girls were smoking at Ridgegate Park.

A resident at the 800 block of Meadow Lane called police July 30 after his 8-year-old son received a text message from someone trying to buy marijuana: “We need weed. Can you help?” The man called the person who texted and told him he had the wrong number.

A second-story window at a home at the 900 block of Stewarton Drive was broken with a rock on July 31. The caller was at home when someone walked into her backyard and threw the rock. Police checked the area with negative results.

Police were called about a suspicious bag on the north side of Lake Road near Woodbury Drive on Aug. 1. The caller had noticed the gray Kohl’s bag the week before and noted that it smelled foul. Police found a dead fish inside.

The Woodbury Fire Department was called to a home at the 8700 block of Pheasant Run Circle on Aug. 1 after lightning hit the home. There was no fire, though a light in an upstairs bathroom was smoking at one point.

A 1994 Honda Accord was reported stolen from the Cub Foods parking lot on Aug. 1. The owner works at the grocery store and parked the car between Cub and Petsmart.

A resident at the 1300 block of Whistler Point Road called police on Aug. 1 after a neighbor boy was hitting rocks with a baseball bat; one of the rocks struck the caller’s home. The man said he would speak with the boy’s parents and wanted the incident documented.

Woodbury police recovered a stolen vehicle at the Bed, Bath & Beyond parking lot on Aug. 2. The car’s stereo was missing, there was extensive damage to the right side and a purse on the passenger seat had been rifled through.

Someone went through two vehicles parked in a garage at the 6300 block of Applewood Court during the overnight hours of Aug. 1-2. Nothing appeared to be taken from the cars, but a bolt cutter was stolen from the garage.

A quilt and sham set was reported stolen from a home at the 11000 block of Balsam Way on Aug. 2. A woman had left the package on her front porch for UPS for a return, but when she came home she saw a note that said there was no package.

A Woodbury man called police on Aug. 2 after spotting a coyote at Ojibway Park. (Similar sightings have happened lately.) The man told police the coyote came up to him and his dog but he was able to scare it away.

A resident at the 800 block of Moonlight Place was able to extinguish a dryer fire on Aug. 2. The Woodbury Fire Department assisted with ventilation and cleanup.
