Woodbury PD Blotter: Letter Larceny, Copper Caper, 'Lot' Love

Selected calls to the Woodbury Police Department from Oct. 27 to Oct. 31.

The following information was obtained from recent police reports.

Oct. 27

An unlocked car parked at the 1300 block of Parkwood Drive was rummaged through, though nothing was stolen.

A garage at the 1400 block of Cedarwood Drive was broken into; nothing was taken. Police were able to recover fingerprints from a window, which the perpetrator used to breach the garage.

An employee at JC Penny’s admitted to stealing nearly $360 worth of merchandise from the store.

About $5 in change was stolen from a vehicle parked in a garage at the 1300 block of Cedarwood Circle.

Employees at called police to report that a woman who appeared to be drunk was driving off with her children in the car. Police checked the area but were unable to locate the woman.

About $10 in change was stolen from a vehicle in a garage at the 1000 block of Sprucewood Drive.

A resident at the 1400 block of Donegal Drive called police to report that several mailboxes in the area had mail stolen from them during the past week. 

A Woodbury resident called police to report a loose cat at the intersection of Interstate 94 and Interstate 694. The animal was gone by the time police arrived.

Oct. 28

Two bottles of liquid methadone were reported stolen at the 6000 block of Hudson Road. The caller had the drugs in a portable lock box.

Thirty-five feet of copper pipe valued at $2,000 was stolen from a home under construction at the 3100 block of Countryside Bay.

A resident at the 8300 block of Emerald Lane called police to report that mail had been stolen from homes in the area.

Police were called about two people having sex in a car parked at ReMax on Bielenberg Drive. By the time police arrived, both were in the back of the car but dressed. They denied having sex.

Oct. 29

A hydraulic cylinder with 12-foot hoses and a metal plate (valued at $250 combined) were stolen from a trailer at the 4600 block of Mile Drive. The caller told police he would sit outside his property with a rifle some night and shoot anyone who came onto his property. Police told him that was a bad idea, since he was requesting extra patrols in the area.

A woman reported that her Louis Vuitton wallet, valued at $800 to $1,000, was stolen from the Woodbury Fun Zone. Someone used credit cards from the wallet in Minneapolis and Edina to purchase about $10,000 worth of items. Police checked surveillance footage but were unable to see anything useful.

Oct. 30

A woman came to the door of a home at the 2300 block of Windsor Lane to say she had been beaten up. Two men then came up and dragged the woman into a dark SUV. Police located the vehicle and found that the woman had a swollen left eye and blood around her lip. She told officers there was no assault and the men in the vehicle with her did not match the description given by the homeowner. She declined police assistance.

A Woodbury resident called police to report that someone in a blue Mazda was following him too closely and made an obscene gesture.

The Woodbury Fire Department put out a small grass fire at the 11000 block of Valley Creek Road.

A wallet was reported stolen from . The caller said he thought he left it on the counter and noticed a young woman behind him in line who left in a hurry. Police were able to obtain the name of the woman and are investigating.

A vehicle at the 2500 block of Manning Avenue South was broken into and several items—including a laptop computer, digital camera, iPod Touch and $110 in cash—were stolen. The sunroof was broken.

Four people pulled a dine-and-dash on a $53.50 tab at Applebee’s.

Oct. 31

A resident at the 1900 block of Jewel Drive called police to report that a check for $307 was stolen from her mailbox.

A female motorist called police after a man in another vehicle exited his car with his hand in his pocket and approached her vehicle at the Tamarack Road-Interstate 494 ramp. The man approached and said, “What the (expletive) is your problem?” He got back into his car and drove away. Police made contact with the man, who said the woman flashed her two middle fingers at him at the light, but noted that he was not being threatening toward her.

Police were called about a sick raccoon at the 1300 block of Interlachen Circle. Officers arrived to find that the animal was rabid; it was dispatched and disposed of.

The Woodbury Fire Department was called about a garbage truck that was on fire at the Lake Road-Interstate 494 intersection. By the time firefighters arrived the fire was out.
