Woodbury PD Blotter: May 19-24

The following information was obtained from recent police reports.

A bicycle parked outside the east doors of Central Park was reported stolen on May 19.

A resident at the 7700 block of Rimbley Road called police on May 20 after she found a small bird in her fireplace. Police removed the bird without incident.

A home at the 2500 block of Sandstone Drive was broken into while the family was sleeping just before midnight on May 20. The couple and their three young children were sleeping upstairs when they heard the sound of broken glass and a crash downstairs. The residents did not see anyone but heard noises in the backyard. Police cleared the area and found that a window and sliding glass door window were broken. Rocks from outside the home were found at the scene.

A St. Paul man accidentally shot himself with a handgun while he was parked at the Country Inn & Suites in Woodbury on May 21. Woodbury EMS services transported the man to Regions Hospital. He will be cited for the incident.

Employees at Kohl’s called police on May 21 after a man was spotted with his arms full of merchandise fleeing the store. The man got into a waiting vehicle, which left the scene at a high rate of speed.

A woman collecting donations during a talent show at New Life Academy on May 21 called police after finding that her purse, which contained envelopes with the money collected, was stolen. Police later found the purse but the envelopes were missing. A camera and cash was also missing from the purse.

Police were called to the 8800 block of St. Croix Road on May 21 on a fireworks complaint.

The back window of a 2006 Chevy Cobalt was reportedly broken with a metal pole while it was parked at the 10700 block of Knollwood Lane on May 21. The vehicle was not entered.

Police were called to the 4900 block of Woodlane Drive on May 22 on a report of a large recreational fire. Authorities found that the fire was not in violation of the city’s ordinance and the call was apparently the result of an ongoing dispute between neighbors.

A motorist called Woodbury police on May 22 after spotting a group of ducks trying to cross Interstate 94 west of Woodbury Drive.

A door at Allina Medical Clinic on Valley Creek Road was damaged in an apparent attempted break-in last week. The building was not breached. Police received a call about the incident on May 23.

Mainstream Boutique was burglarized during the overnight hours of May 22-23. Cash, checks and credit card receipts were taken from the till.

Employees at Plato’s Closet called police on May 24 after juveniles were looking into a store window and one of them was yelling an employee.

A resident at the 10800 block of Bentwater Lane called police on May 24 after she suspected she was the victim of a scam. A man came to her home and said he was selling magazines for a trip to Rome. The woman wrote a check for $49 that was to be donated to Children’s Hospital. After searching the internet for the name of the company, Marquis Fulfillment Agency, she discovered that it was associated with scams. Other residents in the area also reported that the man had come to their homes. The woman told police she would cancel the check.
