Woodbury Police Blotter: April 21-26

Police were able to return several stolen items last week and responded to a burglary at a Woodbury home.

The following information was obtained from recent police reports.

Police returned several items, including two $80 portable televisions and a few GPS devices, to Woodbury residents last week after they arrested a couple for breaking into cars. Cmdr. Jay Alberio said the pair didn’t break into too many vehicles in Woodbury, but was good to be able to return the stolen items to those residents.

Police were called to the 7300 block of Meadow Grass Court South on April 21 on a report that there was a fox in a resident’s back yard. Police told the woman ways to repel or trap the animal.

A resident at the 10500 block of Hawthorn Trail came to the Public Safety Department lobby on April 21 to report that someone had used her credit card and changed her official address with Visa. Police provided the woman with information about identity theft.

Police were called to Colby Lake and Pool on April 21 on a report that an employee there was releasing water from the pool into the street. Police arrived to find that no water was flowing into the street.

A resident at the 8900 block of Pinehurst Road called police on April 21 after a black dresser that was dumped on her property. Police contacted public works officials, who said they would remove the item.

A resident at the 8600 block of Greenway Avenue South called police on April 21 after discovering that her front license plate was stolen from her car. Earlier in the day she had been at Salon Ultimo, Sam’s Club and the new Target but was unsure when or where the theft took place.

Police were called about an injured goose on St. Johns Drive about half a mile north of Valley Creek Road. Police were unable to contain the goose, which swam across a nearby pond.

A $4,000 espresso machine was reported stolen from a storage locker at the 2200 block of Wooddale Drive on April 21. The victim’s locker had been rummaged through and a new lock was put on the door by neither the caller nor the storage company.

A man called police on April 21 after his cell phone went missing from the Lifetime Fitness basketball court. The man used the phone’s GPS feature to track its location to Colby Lake Park. Police went to the park, though no one there admitted to having the phone. A short time later the phone was returned to Lifetime and the man was able to recover it.

Two bicycles—one valued at $700 and the other at $189—were reported stolen from an underground garage at the 1600 block of Century Circle on April 21.

A resident at the 11000 block of Aster Place called police on April 21 to report that he heard four or five gunshots in the area during a 15-second period. Police checked the area and did not locate anyone with a weapon. Police advised the man to call authorities should he hear gunshots again.

Several items, including a $150 iPod Nano, were reported stolen from two vehicles belonging to a couple at the 9000 block of Princeton Road on April 22.

Woodbury police and firefighters were called about a possible car fire on Interstate 94 east of Interstate 494 on April 22. Authorities arrived to find that it was an electrical problem.

A man at the 9100 block of Cambridge Alcove called police on April 22 after a package was stolen from his mailbox. There were several theft from motor vehicle incidents called in the night before. Police suspect the incidents were related.

Police were called on April 22 after a resident saw a couple in a heated argument in the Cub Foods parking lot. The woman was loading bags into the trunk of a car, only to have the man throw the items on the ground. Authorities later stopped the vehicle; both individuals denied that there was a problem and there was no evidence of a physical altercation.

Police were called to Applebee’s on April 23 on a report that a drunk woman was attempting to drive away. The woman’s boyfriend actually picked her up, but police learned that the vehicle was previously involved in a hit and run in Bloomington.

Two windows were reported broken out of a vehicle and the faceplate of the car’s stereo was stolen at the 6900 block of Ashwood Road on April 23.

Police were called to the 6600 block of Mile Drive on April 23 after a resident said someone had driven a vehicle onto his property and damaged a faucet cover for a garden hose.

Police were called to the City Center Caribou Coffee on April 23 after a man was harassing customers. Police were able to track down the man, who was drunk and taken to detox.

A home at the 9600 block of Wynstone Drive was egged during the overnight hours of April 22-23. A car at the house was also egged.

One hundred feet of copper pipe was reported stolen from a construction site at the 3000 block of Countryside Avenue on April 25. Similar incidents have previously happened at the same location.

A resident at the 6300 block of Tahoe Place called police on April 25 to report that there was a stray cat behind her home. Police could not locate the animal.

A resident called police on April 25 to report that several swear words had been written in black marker on a slide at Evergreen West Park.

Police were called to the intersection of Manning Avenue and 40th Street South on April 25 on a report of a loose cow. Police checked the area with negative results.

Police were called about a burglary at the 8800 block of Spring Lane on April 25. Someone broke into the house and stole a number of items, including a safe that contained $5,000 in cash, a flat-screen television, a Civil War painting valued at $1,200 and a sterling silverware set.
