Woodbury PD Blotter: April 28-May 3

Police recently responded to calls of threats, road rage, coyotes, a raccoon in a kitchen and an injured squirrel.

The following information was obtained from recent police reports.

Public Works officials and a lawn-care worker found a bloody knife lying on the ground near the intersection of Tamarack Road and Spring Hill Drive on April 28. There was some rust and dirt on the knife, but there may have been a bloodstain near the handle.

A resident who had parked her car at Salem Lutheran Church called police on April 28 after noticing that someone had tried to steal her vehicle’s catalytic converter. She heard loud noises coming from her engine and spotted saw marks at the exhaust system.

A resident who was at Carver Lake Beach on April 28 called police to report the sound of gunshots in the area, possibly a .22 caliber weapon. Police checked the area but did not find anything unusual.

Woodbury police were called about a road rage incident near Interstate 94 and Woodbury Drive on April 28. A caller told police that a red Jeep Grand Cherokee cut her off and followed her on I-94 from I-694 to radio drive.

A resident at the 3200 block of Hamlet Drive called police on April 28 to report that there was a raccoon in his kitchen. Police ushered the animal out of the kitchen and into the backyard, where it ran away.

A cell phone, wallet with $100 in cash and other items were reported stolen from a locker at Gold’s Gym on April 29. The lock was missing and another customer found the man’s pants in the steam room.

A resident at the 6700 block of Ashwood Road called police on April 29 to report that the window of her car had been broken. 

A resident at the 10200 block of City Walk Drive called police on April 30 after his car had been broken into and a GPS device and other items were stolen. He told police he thought it might be high school kids, as he has seen several younger people “hanging around” the area recently.

Classic Pizza and Great American Meat Company, at the 1800 block of Weir Drive, were burglarized during the overnight hours of April 29-30. The front doors were broken and $35 in cash was stolen from the register at Classic Pizza.

A woman who lives at the 6700 block of Ashwood Road contacted police after a man with whom she has a son called her and threatened to “smash her face in and kill her.” She told police she is already in the process of getting a restraining order against the man and simply wanted the incident documented.

A resident who lives at the 6100 block of Upper Afton Circle called police on April 30 after one of the license plates of her car were stolen while the vehicle was in Minneapolis. Mounds View police have contacted the woman about her license plate being on the vehicle of a car involved in multiple gas drive-offs in that city.

Police busted two people for smoking marijuana in a car near the 1800 block of Woodlane Drive on April 30.

Miscellaneous CDs and books were reported stolen from a vehicle parked at the 10100 block of City Walk Drive on April 30.

Police were called to Throwbacks Grille and Bar on April 30 after an intoxicated man refused to leave the restaurant. He cooperated once police arrived and was given a ride home.

Officers were called to the 10400 block of Grand Forest Lane on May 1 after a man was threatening people there and said he was going to kick a door in and shoot them. Police arrested the man, who was transported to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and booked.

A resident at the 10300 block of Raleigh Road called police on May 1 after his home had been pelted by rocks twice the night before. The man’s wife heard kids talking and found footprints in the yard.

A Woodbury man called police on May 1 after he heard what might have been a gunshot in the area of Potawatomi Park. Officers checked the area with negative results.

A $400, 12-foot extension beam was reported stolen from a work site at the 3600 block of Mahle Lane on May 2.

Police were called on May 2 about an injured squirrel that was missing a foot and running around in circles at the intersection of Tower Drive and Highpointe Road.

The manager of Juut Salonspa called police on May 2 after noticing that the till was off by $250. The manager said she was unsure whether it was an employee or member of the cleaning crew that took the money.

A Woodbury man called police on May 2 to report that he had spotted what looked to be a coyote near Woodbury High School. A different resident also called police that day after spotting a coyote running through a soccer field toward Ojibway Park. It was the third call about a coyote in two days in the area. Police checked the area but did not see the animal, and soccer players nearby said they didn’t see a coyote.

Police were called to the U.S. Army Career Center on Bielenberg Drive on May 3 after someone tried to break into an army vehicle the night before.

A couple going through divorce proceedings got into an argument while transferring custody of their children at the Cub Foods parking lot on May 3. The man got into his vehicle and drove at the woman, stopping a foot away from her. She told police he said, “I should have (expletive) hit you.” The man was later arrested by St. Paul police.
