Woodbury Police Blotter: Feb. 10-15

Police were called about the inappropriate use of Facebook photos by Woodbury High School students.

The following information was compiled from recent police reports.

Woodbury police were called to the 1900 block of Century Avenue on Feb. 10 on a report that a pack of five wolves went through a resident’s yard. Police chocked up the report as a coyote sighting but were unable to locate any animals.

Police were called about a coyote sighting at Ojibway Park on Feb. 10. Police did not see any coyotes.

Police on Feb. 10 recovered a laptop stolen from the vehicle of a Woodbury resident. Police were executing a search warrant at a home on the 2500 block of Wimbledon Place and found the laptop. The man, whose laptop was stolen in Minneapolis in early December, had filed a report with the Minneapolis Police Department, and Woodbury officers searched the hard drive and found the Woodbury man’s name. The man who had the stolen laptop was charged with third-degree burglary and two misdemeanor charges.

A Miami man called Woodbury police on Feb. 10 after he left his cell phone at Aperitif Restaurant in Woodbury and employees there said no one had turned it in. The iPhone was valued at $300.

A Woodbury police K-9 unit found that three lockers at Woodbury High School smelled of narcotics during a check on Feb. 10.

Woodbury police were called on Feb. 11 about incidents involving students at Woodbury High School in which fights had started because of inappropriate posts on Facebook. Several female students had their Facebook pictures copied and used in a derogatory manner on another webpage. The school was taking steps to handle the matter internally. A resident requested extra police presence at the school.

A resident at the 7200 block of Guider Drive called to say that she had received about eight text messages from an Internet site.

Woodbury police were called to the Woodbury 10 Theatre on Feb. 11 after a man refused to pay for $200 worth of limo services. The man—who has had previous contact with Oakdale and Woodbury police on similar matters—had about a dollar in change on him when police arrived. He was booked at Washington County Jail.

A Sauk Rapids, Minn., woman was cited on Feb. 12 for too much frost/steam on her windshield.

Police were called to the I-94-494 interchange on Feb. 12 on a report of a rollover accident. The vehicle landed upright and there were no injuries reported.

Employees at Ultimate Electronics called police on Feb. 12 after a man in his 50s was walking around the store and yelling. Under a court order, the store is liquidating its contents and has a no refunds or exchanges policy. The man tried to return a stereo and began causing a scene. He was cooperative with officers and agreed to leave.

Woodbury police and firefighters responded to a car fire at the Woodwinds Heath Center parking lot on Feb. 12.

Police were called to Axel’s Bonfire on Feb. 13 after an Oakdale man’s vehicle was broken into and rummaged through. Nothing was missing and a set of golf clubs and spare change was left in the GMC Acadia.

Woodbury firefighters responded to a report of car fire at the 9000 block of Hudson Road on Feb. 14.

A man came into the Woodbury Police Department lobby on Feb. 15 to report that his friend “flipped out” while they were installing cabinets at a Woodbury home. He told police he was picked up and slammed on the ground. The man accused of the assault said there was no altercation and the alleged victim did not want to pursue charges.
