Woodbury Police Blotter: March 24-30

Police recently responded to calls about an injured raccoon, a loose bull, road rage and some juvenile pranks in Woodbury.

The following information was obtained from recent police reports.

Police were called to Jo-Ann in Tamarack Villiage on March 24 about an attempted burglary. The lock on the front door had been damaged, and police found the tip of a small screwdriver in the lock’s core.

Officers responded to a call about an injured raccoon at the 6600 block of Stratford Alcove on March 24. The caller said the raccoon had sustained an injury to one of its back legs and was acting aggressively on his deck. The animal was put down.

Security officers at Woodbury Lakes called police on March 24 to report that five females were shoplifting at several stores. The security team told police that the women were in a white van, but officers searched the vehicle and discovered it was not the alleged perpetrators’ vehicle. The suspects could not be located.

A St. Paul woman called police on March 24 to report that a vehicle tried to run her off the road near Cottage Grove Drive and Hudson Road. Police contacted the other driver, who told them that the caller had slammed on her brakes several times in front of her and nearly caused a crash.

Police were called to the Express at Woodbury Lakes on March 24 after a worker there said her vehicle had been rummaged through. Nothing appeared to be missing, but when she went back to star her car she found that the ignition had been damaged—a key was broken off in the ignition.

A car stereo was reported stolen from a Honda Accord parked at the 9100 block of Hudson Road on March 24.

Woodbury police were called to the 6100 block of Crackleberry Trail on March 25 after a resident said she thought her mail had been stolen. The door to her mailbox was open and there was no mail inside.

The Woodbury Fire Department responded to a small vehicle fire at Ultimate Electronics on March 25.

A resident at the 9600 block of Wynstone Drive called police on March 26 after she heard a loud thump outside her home. She discovered that peanut butter had been smeared on her front door and garage door.

Police were called to an empty commercial building at the 400 block of Bielenberg Drive on March 26 after the owner found that the building had been burglarized. The owner said it happened sometime during the past month. There was about $10,000 in damage to the building.

Police were called to the 7400 block of Newbury Road on March 26 after resident said neighbors were revving their engines in the middle of the night.

Police were called to the 8700 block of Promenade Lane on March 26 on a report that a garage door opener and flashlight were stolen from a vehicle parked in an underground garage.

Police were called about a road rage incident at McDonald’s on March 26. A man was yelling at the caller, who was not able to get complete license plate information.

An iPod valued at $100 was reported stolen from a vehicle parked at the 6400 block of Edgewood Avenue on March 26. The vehicle was parked in a home’s driveway and the doors were unlocked, though one handle was broken by a perpetrator.

A home on Tahoe Place was broken into and rummaged through on March 26. A window was broken but nothing appeared to be missing.

Police were called about a dispute between two residents at the 3500 block of Cherry Lane on March 27. One person was moving out of the home and an argument arose about what was being taken out of the house. One individual said another had nearly thrown a punch at her but was restrained by others present. Police spoke with those involved and they agreed to remain calm. No further police action was taken.

Police were called about a report of loose bull at a farm near Hudson Road west of Manning Avenue. Police did not find any roaming bovine and the cattle appeared to be within a fenced area. They spoke with the farmer, who assured them his electrical fence was working properly and the cattle would be contained.

Police were called to a home on Lake Ridge Drive on March 28 after some juveniles were playing ding-dong ditch.

An employee at an insurance company on the 6700 block of Upper Afton Road reported that her phone charger and garage door opener were stolen on March 29. She was out of town during previous weeks and was unsure when the theft happened.

Police were called to the Radio Shack on Valley Creek Plaza on March 29 after nearly $250 in electronics was stolen.

A man dropped off several light bulbs at the Washington County Environmental Center without paying on March 29. When workers there told the man he had to pay to drop off light bulbs, he sped off and said, “My taxes can pay for it.”

The window of a vehicle was smashed while it was parked at Globe University on March 29. There were also scratches on the GMC Envoy and it appeared to have been stuck by another vehicle.

Police were called to Battle Creek Lake on March 29 on a report that someone was having a bonfire. Police arrived but did not see a fire or anyone in the area.

Police were called to the 2400 block of Sandstone Drive on March 30 after someone put mustard on a man’s Honda Accord the night before. The man also told police that other homes in the area were toilet-papered and had mustard on the houses.
