Woodbury Police Blotter: March 30 through April 4

Police recently responded to calls about theft, "dumpster diving" and other matters.

The following information was obtained from recent police reports.

A home at the 7700 block of Cayenne Plaza West had its garage broken into during the overnight hours of March 30-31. A toolbox was missing but later found near a tree in the home’s front yard.

Police were called about a car vs. bicyclist accident near the Woodbury 10 Theatre on March 31 but could not locate either party.

A woman called police on March 31 after her friend apparently stole her iPod and money while they were staying together at the Country Inn & Suites in Woodbury.

A man walking his dog at the 1700 block of Donegal Drive on March 31 called police after finding what appeared to be a crack pipe. Police told him to throw it away.

A Cortland Alcove resident who sold his iPad on eBay called authorities on March 31 after the buyer rescinded the Paypal payment.

Police were called to Wedgewood Jewelers on March 31 after a customer became unruly. He was apparently upset over a watch band he was trying to return and began yelling. Employees checked their records and didn’t believe the watch came from their store.

Four men were asked to leave the area of the PDQ Food Store on March 31 after they were trying to sell cologne products without a permit.

Police were called to the Valley Creek Plaza Target on March 31 on a report that two men were “dumpster diving.” They were removing scrap metal from a dumpster. Police gave them a warning and they returned the metal to the dumpster and left.

A Woodbury resident reported that her purse was stolen from Woodbury Lutheran Church on March 31. The purse was later found behind Rainbow Foods, and police were able to identify the subject—who is also part of an on-going investigation with another agency—using surveillance videos.

A resident at the 1600 block of Lamplight Drive called police on April 1 after she began receiving vulgar text messages.

Police were called to the 3400 block of Mulberry Circle on April 1 after a bag with over-the-counter medication was stolen from a vehicle.

Police were called to Ojibway Park on April 2 on a report that someone was squealing their tires. Police checked the area and found tire marks in the park’s parking lot.

A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle traveling 5-7 mph near the Tamarack Village PetSmart on April 2. The woman was knocked to the ground and transported to Woodwinds Hospital for treatment. The driver told police the woman walked in front of his vehicle.

A woman’s credit cards were reported stolen from her wallet while she was attending the Minnesota School of Cosmetology in Woodbury. The cards were used at multiple locations in Woodbury and Bloomington.

Two men were arrested near an abandoned building at the 400 block of Bielenberg Drive on April 2 after police found that they were in possession of methamphetamine. One of the men admitted he had a concealed knife, which led to a “pat” search and meth and a pipe were found in his possession.

Police were called to the 2500 block of Copper Cliff Trail on April 3 after a resident reported that he heard a man cursing and smashing his front door. The resident found a freshly smeared foot print on his front door but the home remained undamaged.

The Woodbury Fire Department was called to the 6400 block of Oakwood Road after a gas can caught fire. The caller was able to put out the fire herself.

A woman at the 2400 block of Cochrane Circle called police on April 4 after she heard her front door open and slam shut, and saw what appeared to be a thin metal tool slide between the door frame and the door. The woman began turning her outside lights on and off and saw a man running from her home. Officers scoured the area but were unable to find the suspect.

A resident at the 2500 block of Mallard Drive reported about 40 CDs and a case stolen from her car on April 4. The vehicle was parked on Courtly Road the night before and appeared to have been rummaged through. Another vehicle was also rummaged through on Courtly Road during the same timeframe, but nothing was stolen.

About 20 feet of copper pipes was reported stolen from a townhome project at the 3000 block of Countryside Avenue on April 4.
