Woodbury Police Chase Down Burglary Suspect

A juvenile male fled from the scene Tuesday night and will likely face several charges.

Woodbury police were able to track down and apprehend a 16-year-old boy who allegedly entered the garage of a home at the 1700 block of Sheffield Drive on Tuesday night.

A woman who lives at the home called police at 11:27 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, after hearing noises downstairs, according to Det. Sgt. Brett Billmeyer of the .

Police suspect the boy was in the garage at the time, looking into vehicles, Billmeyer said. Nothing was found missing, but investigators are still following up with the victim.

The boy fled the scene on foot but was captured not far from the Sheffield Drive home, Billmeyer said. Police found a small amount of marijuana in his possession.

Police have had previous contacts with the boy, who could be charged with burglary, fleeing officers on foot, drug possession and curfew violation, Billmeyer said. The boy was released to his father that night.

There have been other burglaries in the area, Billmeyer said, and detectives are looking into whether the Tuesday night incident is connected.

Does this boy not have parents? If so, they need to wake up! Maybe they should be the ones arrested.
