Yelling at Manhole Cover, Weather Worries, Bathroom Stash: Woodbury Police Blotter

Selected calls to the Woodbury Public Safety Department from Aug. 23-28.

The following information was obtained from recent police reports.

Aug. 23

A parent reported that on Aug. 21 her son was approached by a man in a car on Glen Road. He didn’t say anything to the boy but backed up to follow him, and he ran home.

A woman cleaning up at Five Oaks Community Church reported that her purse was taken.

A Woodbury woman was cited and released to her daughter after being pulled over on suspicion of DWI near the intersection of Radio Drive and Hudson Road.

Aug. 24

A woman at the 11000 block of Redwood Curve called police to ask if she should go into her basement because of the weather.

Someone tried to pry open a door at the Wooddale Fun Zone and spay-painted swear words on the building.

A man called police to complain that he was wrongfully fired from Pyramid Marital Arts after he reported that one student wanted to rape other students at the school. The owner was aware of the allegations and was looking into it.

Someone found a water bottle fashioned into a bong on a trail near the 1500 block of Interlachen Parkway.

A man called police for advice after finding that his 17-year-old son had cigarettes, alcohol and a tattoo.

A fire extinguisher at DSW Shoe Warehouse broke and there was a haze throughout the store, which was evacuated. The Woodbury Fire Department responded and cleared the scene.

A woman’s foot got stuck in an elevator door at a building at the 1700 block of Century Circle.

Aug. 25

A portable toilet was dumped on its side at Summit Pointe Park and garbage and political signs were scattered about.

Police were called about a man driving back and forth yelling at a manhole cover. Officers learned he was looking for a place to park.

Aug. 26

A trailer was reported stolen from the 1800 block of Donegal Drive. The owner hoped to use it to transport items for Woodbury Days.

There was a complaint filed after SuperAmerica drivers were seen picketing.

A resident at the 3400 block of Oxford Circle called police after finding pry marks on her door. She told officers there have been other attempted break-ins in the neighborhood.

Aug. 27

A maintenance worker found three tables of oxycodone in a plastic bag stuffed in a toilet paper roll in a bathroom in a building at the 2100 block of Wooddale Drive.

Police were called to Woodbury Cleaners after a customer left without paying for his dry cleaning. The man was apparently unhappy with the quality of the cleaning and after talking to police said he would pay for it.

Police were called about a fight at Ojibway Park sparked by a Facebook comment about someone being “gay.” The person who was struck said he was sucker punched by someone who hit him “like a (expletive).”

Aug. 28

A man who had a warrant out for his arrest, and another person who was suspected of harboring him, were arrested at the 7200 block of Guider Drive.

A man was arrested for fifth-degree drug possession after employees at the Norma Lane Wells Fargo said he was in the bank acting like he was on drugs. They also saw him throwing items in a sewer and police found a hypodermic needle that tested positive for heroin.
