Brief: Woodbury Approves Write-off For Sports Organization

After a few weeks of mulling a decision, the city council eventually opted to forgive the debt.

The Woodbury City Council last week decided to forgive .

The Woodbury Sports Foundation had owed the city the money for some time, but a shakeup among the group’s board members left the city hanging on the funds, which were used to construct new locker rooms for . (The principle, about $20,000, was paid, and the remaining money was interest.)

The council tabled the item at its last regular meeting as a courtesy to Councilman Christopher Burns, who was absent. He was the lone member against forgiving the debt at the Oct. 12 meeting.

Burns said he didn’t want to belabor the point, but reiterated his opposition.
