Million-Dollar Homes in Woodbury? Sure. But ‘Who Knows How Crazy Somebody Wants to Go’

Some custom-built Autumn Ridge homes could cost much more.

“Who knows how crazy somebody wants to go,” Rygh said, adding that pools, hobby farm-like outbuildings and extensive “man caves” would be likely amenities in the new homes.

The Woodbury City Council on Wednesday unanimously approved three measures that move the Autumn Ridge development forward.

Plans call for 20 homes to be built on a 61-acre parcel at the southwest corner of Radio Drive and Military Road, north of Glen Road. It’s currently farmland.

Rygh said Woodbury hasn’t seen a development like Autumn Ridge over the past five years, and probably won’t see another in the next half decade.

“It’s pretty exciting,” he said. “We’ve had huge interest so far.”

Mayor Mary Giuliani Stephens said the city has done a good job providing a wide variety of housing options, and believes there will be interest in the high-end Autumn Ridge development.

“I think there’s a market for it here,” she said.

The land will be developed in two phases, starting with the western portion, said Eric Searles, associate planner.

There will be a model home built at the site this May, Rygh said.
