Report: Million-Dollar Homes Planned at Woodbury Development

A developer envisions homes that would range from $700,000 to more than $1 million in the southwest portion of Woodbury, according to a Star Tribune report.

The Woodbury City Council on Wednesday is set to discuss plans for Autumn Ridge, a 61.35-acre parcel located at the southwest corner of Military Road and Radio Drive, north of Glen Road. Twenty single-family homes would be built at the site, according to a council memo.

Groundbreaking on the first of the houses is expected to begin this spring, Tim Thone, of Thone Property Investments, told the Star Tribune.

“Nobody’s really done an estate-type development in Woodbury in more than 25 years,” he told the newspaper.

Autumn Ridge would mark the latest phase of development for the area, following plans for Bielenberg Gardens, which would feature retail and residential growth across more than 200 acres at the southwest corner of Radio Drive and Bailey Road.

There are already plans for a new grocery store at the site.

Meanwhile, the city previously approved plans for Bailey Lake, a 40-acre parcel slated for 98 homes south of Bailey Road and east of Pioneer Drive. There are also plans for a 60-acre development south of the Bailey Lake where developers expect to build 209 new homes.

Regarding Autumn Ridge, staff recommends the city council approve the planned-unit development, findings of fact for a conditional-use permit and the preliminary plat.

“This is a very unique project,” Eric Searles, Woodbury associate planner, told the Star Tribune. “We think it fills a need for executive housing here in Woodbury.”

The council meets at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at City Hall.
