Trail Extension Planned at Cabela’s Site in Woodbury

The Washington County Board on Tuesday requested a permit from MnDOT for the trail.

As work continues at the site of a new Cabela’s and retail area in Woodbury, a trail extension is planned along Radio Drive.

The path, which will go in on the west side of Radio Drive between Hudson Boulevard and Interstate 94, will complete a missing county trail link between Woodbury and Oakdale.

The Woodbury City Council in June approved the plans for Cabela’s and the retail area at the southwest intersection of Interstate 94 and Radio Drive.

Cabela’s is building a new 100,000-square-foot store at the nearly 16-acre site, where another 12,000 square feet of retail pads—possibly fast food, a convenience store and/or multi-tenant retail—are also slated.

The outdoor-goods retailer will build the trail along county and Minnesota Department of Transportation right-of-ways; the Washington County Board on Tuesday requested a permit from MnDOT for the trail. (A small section of the trail will extend into MnDOT right-of-way.)

Cabela’s plans to open in the fall of 2014.
