Video: Woodbury Council Tours New Public Safety Garage

The newly expanded facility is 98 percent online, according to Public Safety Chief Lee Vague, and Mayor Mary Giuliani Stephens took a squad car through police tape at the new garage to mark the occasion.

The Woodbury City Council on Wednesday toured the garage at the newly expanded building.

The city’s fire trucks are already in the Radio Drive facility and squad cars will start moving in today, July 28.

The mayor—along with Councilwomen Julie Ohs and Amy Scoggins and city staff—took about 20 minutes looking around the new garage before returning to City Hall for their regular business.

The came in at $7.7 million, below initial estimates of $8 million, City Administrator Clint Gridley said.

The new garage will save the city money on idling police cars during winter months, Public Safety Chief Lee Vague said. Without the garage, officers have been leaving their cars running when it’s colder to prevent damage to the equipment inside.
