Woodbury Approves Plan for Assisted Living Facility

Construction on Edgewood Vista, near Century Avenue and Lake Road, is expected to begin this fall.

The Woodbury City Council on Wednesday approved plans for Edgewood Vista, a 60-unit assisted-living facility that will be built near Century Avenue and Lake Road.

Plans call a 53,000-square-foot two-story building that will provide memory care and assisted living apartments for seniors, said Eric Searles, Woodbury associate planner.

Work is expected to begin this fall. Edgewood Vista has several senior-living facilities across Minnesota and the western U.S.

The applicant, Oppidan Investment Company, has agreed to purchase a 2.2-acre city-owned parcel at the site for $36,185. The city acquired the land as part of the construction of the Lake Road/Interstate 494 Interchange.

The water table at the site is settling, but there is not a sinkhole there, Searles said, though it is something the city will monitor.
