Woodbury Delays Deflation of Bielenberg Sports Center Dome

The work was delayed due to weather.

It’s not time for the bubble to burst. Not just yet, anyway.

The city on Monday announced that the deflation of the dome at the Bielenberg Sports Center will be delayed at least a week because of weather.

Woodbury plans to demolish the dome to make way for a new $21.8 million field house. The project also calls for a new two-story lobby connecting the new facility and existing arenas, along with an outdoor pleasure rink and other updates.

The dome was expected to come down the week of April 8, according to a notice from the city’s InTouch system.

“The city is planning a groundbreaking and ‘bubble bursting’ event to celebrate the start of the BSC expansion project,” reads the note. “Details will be provided when the date is known. Construction of the new building will begin soon after the dome is deflated.”
