Woodbury DFLer Announces Run for State House

Ann Marie Metzger is seeking the DFL endorsement in new House District 53B.

Woodbury resident Ann Marie Metzger on Friday announced that she will seek the DFL endorsement for the state representative in the new House District 53B.

Metzger filed in December of 2011 to run for the House seat in 56A, according to a press release, and has filed an amended filing for the new 53B House District, which is comprised of mostly the eastern half of Woodbury.

“In the last 15 years, I have been able to participate in many community building efforts here and in the Twin Cities,” she said in a statement. “These opportunities have blessed me with many relationships that have allowed me to witness the values we share.”

Metzger has 15 years of experience in banking and finance beginning at Chase Manhattan Bank in New York and worked as vice president of an independent commodity finance firm she helped to start, according to the release.

“Ann Marie places a high priority on volunteerism and has a strong desire to stand up for those who need our help the most,” the release says. “She has proven to be an effective leader in local and Twin Cities organizations that have worked to reach out to new mothers, provide assistance to families in need and organize to advocate for a health care system that ensures access for all Minnesotans to quality and affordable healthcare.”
