Woodbury Drive, Radio to Open for Traffic

The intersection of Bailey Road and Woodbury Drive, however, is expected to close early next week.

The northern portion of the Woodbury Drive construction project is expected to open to traffic Friday, Aug. 9, as is Radio Drive.

“All good news,” City Engineer Klayton Eckles reported at Wednesday night’s City Council meeting.

While Woodbury Drive from Lake Road north is set to open Friday, the intersection of Woodbury Drive and Bailey Road is set to close Monday, Aug. 12.

Woodbury Drive is being expanded from two lanes to four from Park Crossing to just south of Bailey Road.

Radio Drive is also going to four lanes from Bailey Road to Hargis Parkway. The project also includes a new pedestrian underpass.

The roadwork this year has been disruptive, said Eckles, who also thanked residents for their patience. However, the work this year will allow the city to see fewer construction projects next summer, he said.

The Woodbury Drive project—which also includes pedestrian paths and roundabouts and Lake and Bailey roads—should be complete by early October, Eckles said.

The detour for Bailey Road will be Lake Road, and Councilman Paul Rebholz encouraged residents to follow posted signage.
