Changing Colors

Fall truly is a beautiful time of year in many ways.

As a summer born child, I simply LOVE warm weather.

When the cold weather strikes all I can think of is the impeding winter; we do not say the naughty word s-n-o-w. Took a moment to reflect on my attitude about the changing weather…

Over the weekend I started to really look at fall for what it is, another beautiful season in Minnesota. The trees have turned to beautiful reds and oranges, the apple orchards and hayrides are open, and let us not forget the haunted houses, pumpkin carving and trick-or-treating.  These are some of the things that I enjoy doing and never really analyzed fall and the joys it can bring.

This is the time of year perfect for baking, decorating, planning the holidays, and quality time with the family. Yes, we have to rake the leaves but I can watch my grandchildren play in them. I can share memories of their father and uncle doing the same thing.

Then there are the lazy days of fall where you sit in front of the fireplace with a blanket, hot chocolate, and a good book.  What can be more relaxing than that?

The colder weather seems to lead to more quality time with the family.  Everyone seems to be in the kitchen seeing what I am making.  Now with the discovery of certain sites, we can even have fun in the kitchen together making our own soap, shampoo, etc.
