Juicing Experience: Days 18 through 24

You are probably wondering if I prematurely ended my juicing experience. The answer is Heck no! I LOVE juicing and am so glad that I made the decision to start it.

We have had an eventful week. My son pulled a move from Jackass.

His friend and him were poking each other with a prong from a hairpick; the salon quality hairpick. Needless to say, my son was not prepared for the next poke and it ended up lodged in between his sternum. 4″ inches of metal pierced his skin and he was rushed to Regions Hospital Trauma Ward.

We are truly blessed that the metal prong did not pierce his liver, only nicked it. After two days in the hospital with him, collapsed from pure stress and exhaustion for a full 24 hours. He is home and doing well.

Day 18, I continued to use the colon cleanse detox as I did not experience results, but a lot of movement internally. It did not kick in until Day 19.

Day 20, I went to visit my doctor for a follow-up visit and was weighed in again. I lost an additional 3.5 pounds. I have lost almost 7 pounds since I started juicing. Mind you, I have still been eating a regular dinner and sneaking in snacks with the kids. This is an awesome breakthrough.

I spent day 21 and 22 at the hospital and was unable to make juice. The hospital cafeteria is not juice friendly or vegetable/fruit friendly for that matter. I drank a lot of tea and water to combat some of the nasty food digested.

When we came home on the evening of day 22 I couldn’t wait to juice. The first thing I did is make a smoothie:

  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 1/4 pineapple
  • 6 strawberries
  • 4 spinach leaves

It was like a dream come true to juice again.

Day 23 was the day I collapsed from exhaustion. My only fluid intake was distilled water. Mr. Man was nice enough to bring me home a chili from Wendy’s that evening.

Day 24 was a moment of reflection at how a few short weeks has changed my lifestyle and am throughly happy with substituting some meals with a healthy juice or smoothie. I simple tried eating real food this day as an experiment. I truly was not satisfied with just cooking healthy and actually craved juice.

A Facebook friend noted that I had not been posting about my juicing experience and inquired if I was still juicing. She was a former juicer who was inspired to juice again. She was unsure why she stopped juicing the first time, but was glad to juice again. We even shared tips on juicing.

About to start on juicing day 25. Enjoy your day.
