60 Minutes Story to Include Woodbury High School

South Washington County Schools announced this morning that 60 Minutes will air a story Sunday that features staff and students from .

The segment is about the difficulties schools have teaching Huckleberry Finn, which was the subject of an essay by Woodbury High School English instructor Karen Morrill-Bryan, who references the book’s language as an issue.

Crews from 60 Minutes contacted Woodbury High School in February and filmed a segment featuring staff and students as they explored the difficulties of the book, which is set before the abolition of slavery.

The segment is set to air during the 6 p.m. broadcast of 60 Minutes on Sunday, March 20 on CBS.

In the announcement, District 833 wrote: “Neither Woodbury High School nor District 833 personnel were involved in the selection of footage for the piece, nor the direction the segment might take.”
