A Bright Idea at Woodbury Middle School

Older desks and tables at the school were coated with Idea Paint this year, making for a unique learning experience for students.

As a student, you were probably told not to draw on your desk.

At Woodbury Middle School, it’s part of the curriculum.

Older desks and tables at the school this year were coated with Idea Paint, which essentially turns them into dry erase boards.

David Donnelly, a math teacher at Woodbury Middle School, researched Idea Paint and brought the information to the PTO, which in turn raised $3,000 to fund the endeavor, Principal Kari Lopes said.

As for the students, “They love it,” she said.

I was browsing the Idea Paint website, they also have opaque Idea Paint. Just a neat idea in general.

As the WMS PTO President, I am very thankful to all of our families and community to participating in our fall fundraiser and box top competitions. The money raised allowed the PTO to support such a great idea. The kids are loving it!! A big "Thank You" to David Donnelly and the other staff who helped get everything painted over the summer. Thank you to all of the great parents who support the PTO and attend our meetings. These kind of ideas encourage our students to have fun while learning.

A great example of thinking outside the box!!! Maybe the entire 833 district will follow WMS's lead!

It was a cool deal. And Principal Lopez said other schools in the district have shown interest.
