Bailey Elementary Has New Principal

Candace Hofstad will take over for Molly Roeske, who accepted the principal's job at Lake Middle School last month.

has a new principal after the District 833 School Board approved the new hire at Thursday night’s meeting, school officials announced this morning.

Candace Hofstad will take over as the Woodbury elementary school’s principal. Hofstad replaces Molly Roeske, who at last month. 

Hofstad was most recently at , where she served as educational coordinator for the past five years. Prior to that, she worked with Mahtomedi schools for 13 years as a first- and second-grade teacher.

“Her personable and dynamic personality along with her passion for students and learning will serve the Bailey School community and the school district well,” Assistant Superintendent for Elementary Education, Dave Bernhardson said in a statement.

Hofstad was selected by interview teams that included representatives from the Bailey Site Team (comprised of staff and parents), district elementary principals, the assistant superintendent for elementary education and the superintendent, according to a news release from District 833.

Hofstad has a principal licensure through St. Mary’s University, a master of education in teacher leadership through the University of Minnesota, as well as a bachelor of science in elementary education with mathematics minor from the U of M.
