Brief: Area Students Best Peers On ACT

With a composite score of 23.4, students in South Washington County Schools beat the state average (22.9).

A number of seniors in District 833 will likely be able to get into the colleges or universities of their choosing, thanks in part to some stellar ACT scores.

Seventy-one percent of eligible District 833 students took the ACT exam, and the district has the highest performance levels in the five most recent reporting years with a composite score of 23.4.

The district improved in three areas of the exam: English, math and science. The composite score with the reading portion of the exam remained stable.

had the highest participation rate at 78 percent, while earning a 24.0 composite score. first earned a 24.0 composite score with a 60 percent participation rate.

The state average didn’t fare as well. State performance remained flat with a slight decrease in reading and a slight increase in math.

The average composite score for Minnesota students who took the ACT was 22.9. The national average composite score was 21.1 in 2011 (up from 21 in 2010).
