College Grads, Scholars From Woodbury

Woodbury Patch will provide regular roundups of recent college graduates and recipients of academic honors.

Below is a list of college graduates, athletes and academic honors winners from Woodbury. If you have news about a college student from Woodbury, email it to kris.janisch@patch.com.

Thomas Green was named to the Dean’s List at Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Ga., during the summer 2011 quarter, earning a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Paige Hanson, majoring in Forensic Psychology, was named to the Tiffin University Dean’s List for the spring 2011 semester.

Joshua Meltzer is a freshman at McDaniel College in Westminster, Md.

Stephanie Schenck recently entered the professional Doctor of Pharmacy program at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.

Kelsey Schnabel, a freshman at Augustana College and member of the Augustana Band (French Horn), performed in the Augustana Band Fall Concert on Nov. 4 at the Brandon Valley Performing Arts Center.

The awarded to the following students:

  • Kathryn Hemstreet, graduated from , plans on attending University of North Carolina, majoring in biology
  • , graduated from , plans to attend MIT, majoring in Biological Engineering
  • Heidi Vanderpan, graduated from Woodbury High School, plans on attending Gustavus Adolphus College, majoring in Communications
  • Lucia Vitale, graduated from , plans on attending University of Wisconsin, majoring in International Relations and Business.

Rachel Bay and Ellen Proesch, both of Woodbury, have enrolled as freshmen this fall at DePaul University in Chicago.

Courtney Brumm, daughter of Fred and Claudia Brumm of Woodbury, will perform in the 55th Bethel University Festival of Christmas, "Let the Heavens Rejoice!"

Patrick Hoversten, from Woodbury, was among 20 Gonzaga University entrepreneurship students who spent a day in Omaha learning about business, ethics, and life from billionaire Warren Buffett, the "Oracle of Omaha," one of the world's foremost business authorities.

As part of Christmas at Augustana College, Woodbury native Kelsey Schnabel (French horn, Augustana Band) will perform in the Christmas Extravaganza, a Dec. 8 holiday concert.
