College Grads, Scholars From Woodbury

Jacquelyn Danner, of Woodbury, was the recipient of the John Q. Imholte Scholarship and the Karyn Nielson Memorial Scholarship from the University of Minnesota, Morris for the 2011–12 academic year.

Daniel Ogren and Thomas Green, both of Woodbury, were named to the Savannah College of Art and Design dean’s list for the fall quarter of 2011. They both earned a GPA of 3.5 or better.

Sydney Hase, a mathematics major from Woodbury, graduated from Culver-Stockton College in December 2011.

Megan McCarthy, daughter of Thomas and Stephanie McCarthy of Woodbury, was elected a Student Senator for the 2011-2012 term at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth. McCarthy is a sophomore majoring in exercise physiology/pre-physical therapy. As a member of the College of St. Scholastica's Student Senate, McCarthy is an External/Legislative Affairs Senator.

Four students from Woodbury were recently accepted for admission to University of Wisconsin-Stout. They are also eligible for $1,000 scholarships for meeting certain academic criteria. They are:

  • Marissa Ertel, a student at . Ertel has been accepted and if enrolls will major in pre-special education.
  • Kristen Flaherty, a student at Woodbury High School. Flaherty has been accepted.
  • Jocelyn Ryan, a student at Woodbury High School. Ryan has been accepted.
  • Marcus Tolbert, a student at Woodbury High School. Tolbert has been accepted and if enrolls will major in game design and development.

Jackie Danner, of Woodbury, will be student teaching mathematics and social studies at Mahtomedi High School.

Michigan Technological University announced that three students from Woodbury made the dean’s list for the 2011 fall semester. They are:

  • Taylor Stippel (liberal arts)
  • Kelsey Whalen (biomedical engineering)
  • Paul Zimmerman (mechanical engineering)

Margaret Pendleton, a resident of Woodbury and a member of the class of 2014, has been named to the dean's list at Providence College for the fall 2011 semester.

Two students from Woodbury have been named to the dean's list for the fall 2011 semester at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wis.:

  • Kathleen Schaefer, pursuing a bachelor of science degree in exercise physiology.
  • Benjamin Skubic, pursuing a bachelor of science degree in accounting.

Sydney Beth Hase, a senior mathematics major from Woodbury, was named to the Culver-Stockton College honors list for the fall 2011 semester.

Lauren Bernhagen, daughter of Lisa Bernhagen of Woodbury, was named with highest honors to the fall semester dean's list at Northwestern College in St. Paul. Bernhagen is pursuing a degree in psychology and English at Northwestern.

The following students from Woodbury were named to the fall semester dean's list at Northwestern College in St. Paul.

  • Sophia Gori, daughter of Jiten and Jennifer Gori, pursuing a degree in communication studies.
  • Rebecca Markowski, daughter of Gary and Cindy Markowski of Woodbury, pursuing a degree in early childhood education.
  • Nou Vang, pursuing a degree in elementary education.
  • Kory Kiekhoefer, son of Gary and Diane Kiekhoefer of Woodbury, pursuing a degree in finance.
  • Cassaundra Stansbury, daughter of Timothy and Leigh Stansbury of Woodbury, pursuing a degree in visual arts education.
  • Sarah Stenson, daughter of Kurt and Sue Stenson of Woodbury, pursuing a degree in early childhood education.
