District 833 Closing in on New Superintendent

Several upcoming meetings will be held as South Washington Schools looks for a replacement for Mark Porter.

District 833 officials on Tuesday will hear from a slate of candidates as the district looks to find a replacement for .

The South Washington County School Board will meet for a special meeting at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1, at the District Service Center in Cottage Grove to hear the slate of superintendent candidates culled from the search committee, School Exec Connect, according to a release from District 833.

The board will also hold a special meeting beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 5, at the service center in Cottage Grove to conduct first-round interviews of superintendent candidates. Interviews will take place at 8:30 a.m., 9:45 a.m. and 11 a.m. and at 1 p.m., 2:15 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Immediately following the interviews, the board will make a determination on which candidates will return for the second round interviews, set for May 8-10.

District staff and the public will have the opportunity to meet and ask questions of finalists on May 8, 9 and 10 from 5-5:50 p.m. at East Ridge High School. The final interviews will take place each of the three days from 7:30-9 p.m. The May 8 interview will be in the Professional Development Room at , with the May 9 and 10 interviews at the District Service Center.

Should the board be prepared to make a decision on May 10, following the third interview, the announcement may be made that night, according to the release.

If more time is needed, a decision-making meeting of the school board is set for 6 p.m. Friday, May 11 at the District Service Center.

All school board meetings and interviews are open to the public. The district will not be videotaping any portion of this process until the decision-making meeting on May 11.
